He was the son of Edward and Mary Williams and the brother of Florence, Arthur (killed in action 27/6/1917), Lily, Mary, John, William, George and Cyril Williams. In 1911 they lived at 10 Norland Road and Later 29 Cathcart Street (both St Ann's Road Notingham).
Frederick Williams was born in 1898 at Nottingham, he was the son of Edward Arthur Williams a cricket bat maker and Mary Williams née Howe and the brother of Florence, Arthur (killed in action 27th June 1917), Lily, Mary, John, William, George and Cyril Williams of 29 Cathcart Street, St Ann's, Nottingham.
His father Edward Arthur was born in 1872 at Nottingham, his mother Mary Howe was born in 1875 at Nottingham, they were married in 1896 atNottingham and went on to have 9 children.
In the 1911 census the family lived at 10 Norland Road , St Ann's, Nottinghamand Edward Arther 39 yrs is a cricket bat maker, he is living with hs wifr Mary 36 yrs and their 9 children, including Arthur 15 yrs an errand boy and Fred 13 yrs also an errand boy.
Private Frederick Williams enlisted on 20th March 1915 in Nottingham givivng his age as 19 yrs and 3 months and his address as 29 Cathcart Street, Nottingham, he was a prining ink manufactuerer, his next of kin was his father Edward of the same address, and initially served as No. 24554 in the Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derby Regiment) . He landed in France on 28th January 1916 but was posted to 15th Battalion, Cheshire Regiment on 19th May 1916. He was returned to England on 6th March 1917 suffering bronchitis following being gassed . He returned to France on 5th December 1917 and was killed in action 13th October 1918 and is buried at Dadizeele New British Cemetery (IV. F. 9)
His brother Private Arhtur Williams enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 1/7th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he was killed in action on 27th June 1917 and is buried at Loos Cemetery(XIX> G. 13.)
