Thomas White was born in 1874 at Nottingham,

He was the husband of Mary Jane Jepson (born 19th February 1875 ) they were married in 1895 at Nottingham, they lived at 1 Broad Oak Terrace Rose Street Corporation Road Nottingham. They had 4 children, Mabel born 1895, Blanche born 18th January 1901,Dora Adelaide born 15th September 1902 and Clarence born 9th January 1910.

In the 1911 census the family are living at 52 Colborn Street, Wells Road, Nottingham, Thomas 37 yrs is a french polisher, he is living with his wife Mary Jane 36 yrs and their children, Mabel 16 yrs, Blanche 10 yrs, Dora Adelaide 8 yrs and Clarence 1 year old.

Commencing 24th April 1916 his widow was awarded a pension of 23 shillings a week.

Military history

Pte. Thomas White, enlisted at Nottingham whilst residing at Carlton, he served with ā€œCā€ Company, 6th Battalion Royal Irish Fusiliers, was killed in action on 15th August 1915 whilst serving at Sulva Bay in Gallipoli. Reported missing, his death was confirmed on 19th September 1916 when his photograph appeared in the local press he is commemorated on the Helles Memorial. .

Nottingham Evening Post obituary (abridged) 19 September 1916: 'Private T White (Royal Irish), 7 Grove Cottages, Thorneywood, was missing August 1915, now reported killed.'
