Isaac Alfred Statham was born on 12th March 1893 at Nottingham, he was baptised on 16th July 1895 at Lenton Priory Church, Nottingham, he was the son of Richard Statham a general labourer and joiner and his first wife Salomey Alldred of 90 A Peas Hill Road St Ann's Nottingham.

Richard was born in 1853 at Duffield Derbyshire, his mother Salomey Alldred was born in 1865 at Belper, she died in 1903 aged 38 yrs, they were married in 1891 at Derby and had 6 children.

His father remarried Mary Ann Parker born 1868 at Kent, they were married in 1915 at Derby

In the 1911 census the family are living at 20 Claude Street, Dunkirk, Richard 56 yrs is a general labourer, he is living with his wife Mary Ann Statham and his children Richard 19 yrs a grocers errand boy, Mary 15 yrs a lace net mender and Baden 10 yrs a scholar.

Military history

Private Isaac Alfred Statham enlisted at Nottingham on 6th December 1910, giving his age as 17 yrs and 6 months he was a general labourer, he served with the 1st battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he went to France on 4th November 1914 and was killed in action, on 12th March 1915, aged 21, in the German counter-attack and then the British counter-attack during the Battle of Neuve Chapelle, France.
