Family history

Thomas Parsons was born in 1877 at Nottingham, he was the son of the lateJoseph a frame work knitter and Hannah Parsons née Handley and the brother of Frank, Elsie and Sarah Ann Parsons.

His father Joseph was born in 1863 at Carlton, he died in 1908 aged 55 yrs, his mother Hannah Handley was born in 1854 at Nottingham, they were married in 1873 their marriage was recorded in the Basford registration district, they went on to have 12 children, sadly three were t die in infancy or early childhood.

In the 1911 census the family lived at 11 Gordon Road St Ann's Nottingham Hannah 57 yrs a widow is living with her children, Thomas 34 yrs a labourer and single, Frank 16 yrs a mecanic, Elsie 14 yrs an errand girl.

Military history

Private Thomas Parsons enlistd at Leicester, he served with the 2/5th Leicestershire Regiment, he was killed in action on 29th September 1917, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial
