Military history

Corporal, John (Jack) Newcombe enlisted at Halifax, he served with the 15th Battalion, Durham Light Infantry.
According to the War Office Daily Casualty ListNumber : 5685 : Dated : 2nd October 1918, he was listed as wounded and a Prisoner of War of the Germans.
He was wounded and captured at the Battle of Epehy.
He was entitled to wear a wound stripe under : Army Order 204 dated : 6th July 1916.
He died of Tuberculosis of the Lung at : the Bagthorpe Military Hostpital, Nottingham on the 1st April 1919.
He is buried at Nottingham General Cemetery.
