                        It is probable his parents were Willie and Annie Mason and that the family lived on North Sherwood Street in 1891 and in 1901 was living at 39 Hungerhill Road St Ann's (both Nottingham).
                                
                                Military history
                            
                            He probably enlisted in 1905 aged 16 but claiming to be two years older. He was serving with the battalion (1st Northumberland Fusiliers) in India in 1911 leaving in 1913 when the battalion returned to the UK. He was recalled as a Reservist in 1914.
He was killed in action on 24th August 1914, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the La Terte Sous-Jouarre Memorial, France.
