Family history

William Edmun Mason was born in 1885 at Nottingham, he was the son of William George Edmund and Annie Mason.

He married Annie Elizabeth Scrimshaw (born 17th March 1884 ) in 1907 at Nottingham, .

In the 1911 census the family lived at 44 Belle View Road St Ann's Nottingham he is shown as William 26 yrs a window cleaner he is living with his wife Annie 27 yrs a cotton winder he was the father of William A Mason.

His widow was awarded a pension of 20 shillings and 5 pence a week commencing 26th May 1919.

His widow later remarried a man called Whittaker and went to live at Roblin Manitoba Canada

Military history

Private William Edmond Mason enlsted at Derby whilst residing at Nottingham, he initilly served with the service number 5691 in the Sherwood Foresters Regiment beofre transferring to the Machine Gun Corps, he was wounded and returned to Englanf for treatment, he died on 18th November 1918 at the University war hospital, Southampton. He is buried at Nottingham Church Rock Cemetery, St Ann's valley Grave reference: 9494
