Family history

Arthur Makin was born in 1893 at Nottingham, he was the son of the late Frederick Enoch Makin a tailor and Clara Makin née Towle of Little John Street, Pea Hill Road,

His father Francis Enoch was born in 1857 at Nottingham, he died in 1905 aged 48 yrs, his mother Clara Towle was born in 1858 at Nottingham, they were married on 18th October 1879 at St Pauls Church, Nottingham they had 5 children.

In the 1911 census Arthur Makin has left the family home, he is living at 6 Bromley Street, Nottingham he is 18 yrs and is afruit hawker, he is living with Richard Dale 58 yrs and his family.

Military history

Private Arthur Makin enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 2/7th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he was killed in action on 9th March 1918 and he is buried in Mory Abbey Military Cemetery, Mory
