Robert Keetley was born in 1898 at Nottingham, he was the son of Joseph a hawker and Mary Ann Keetley née Garrity of 5 Twells Street St Ann's Well Road Nottingham.

His father Joseph was born in 1865 at Nottingham, his mother Mary Ann Garrity was born in 1867 at Mansfield, they were married on 30th June 1884 at St Stephens Church, Sneinton, Nottingham, they had 7 children.

In the 1911 census the family lived at 20 Howard Street, Nottingham, Mary Ann Keetley 58 years of age is a widow she is living with her children, Mary Ann 21 yrs a lace worker, William 26 yrs a cycle plater, Joseph 19 yrs a cycle plater, Thomas 16 yrs an errand boy, Robert 13 yrs, Samuel 11 yrs.

Military history

Private Robert Keetley enlisted at Nottingham he joined the 10th Battalion, King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry and died of wounds in fighting during the Third Battle of Ypres. He was buried at Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery(XXII. C. I.)
