Family history

Hrold Jackson was born in 1896 he was the son of John a coach painter and Jane Anne Jackson née Brown and the brother of Ernest, Ethel May and Frederick Jackson of 19 Linden Street Nottingham.

His father John was born in 1871 at Derby his mother Jane Anne Brown was born in 1870 also at Derby they were married in 1891 their marriage was recorded in the Loughborough registration district, they went on to have 7 children, sadly 3 were to died in infancy or early childhood.

In the 1911 census the family were living at 19 Linden Street, Nottingham, John 40 yrs is a coach painter, he is living with his wfiea Jane Anne 41 yrs and their children, Harold 15 yrs a brush maker, Ernest 13 yrs a butchers assistant, Ethel Mary 11 yrs ascholar and Frederick 6 years of age.

Military history

Lance Corporal Harold Jackson enlisted at Nottingham on 10th Jnauary 1912, giving his age as 16 yrs and 7 months, his address was 19 Linden Street, Nottingha, he was a brush maker. Posted to the 1/7th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment and was promoted to Lance Corporal on 15th April 1916. Landing in France on 27th February 1915 he was admited to hospital on 1st July 1916 with a gun shot wound to his shoulder. He died of his wounds on9th July 1916 and is buried at Le Treport Military Cemetery
