Family history

William George Hibbert was born in 1883 at Nottingham he was the son of the late George a betting commission agent and Harriet Hibbert née Brown of 94 Gordon Road Alfred Street St Ann's Nottingham.

His father George was born in 1859 at Nottingham, he died in 1911 at Nottingham aged 52 yrs his mother Harriett Brown was born in 1861 at Heanor, Derbyshire, they were married in 1879 at Nottingham, they went on to have 6 children.

In the 1911 census his widow mother Harriett 50 yrs is living at 58 Norland Road, Nottingham, she is living with her married daughter Harriett Ward 22 yrs and her son in law James Ward 23 yrs and her grandson George Hibbert 9 yrs of age.

In the same 1911 census William George Hibbert 28 yrs and single is serving with the 2nd battalion Leicestershire Regiment, they are in barracks at Fort St George, in Madras, India.

Military history

Private William George Hibbert enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 23rd battalion Northumberland Fusliers he was killed in action on 29th April 1917, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Arras Memorial.
