Family history

Francis Henry Hearnshaw was born in 1895 at Wolverhampton, he was the son of Francis and Emma Annie Hearnshaw née Waplington, he was the brother of Louie and Francis Charles Dudley Hearnshaw of 39 Peas Hill Road, St Ann's, Nottingham)

His father Francis was born in 1868 a Smethwick, Staffordshire, his mother Emma Annie Waplington was born in 1874 at Carlton, they were married on 21st June 1894 at Christ Church, Summerfield, Birmingham, they went on to have 5 children.

In the 1911 census the family lived at 27 Massey Street Francis 43 yrs is a pattern maker, he is living with his wife Emma Annie 37 yrs a lace jennier, they are living with their children, Francis Henry 15 yrs a stone masons apprentice, Louie 13 yrs and Francis Charles 7 years of age.

Military history

Private Francis Henry Hearnshaw enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 1/6th battalion Northumberland Fusiliers, he was attached to 149th Trench mortar battery. He died on 27th May 1918, having no known grae his name is commemorated on the Soissons Memorial
