John Isaac Green was baptised on 16th December 1892 at Nottingham, he was the son of Frank a hosiery hand and the late Mary Ann Green née Porter and the brother of Emily,Frank (later of 1 Blake Street Gordon Road Nottingham), Minnie, Fanny and Nellie Green.
His father was born in 1863 at Nottingham, his mother Mary Ann Porter was born in 1865 at Nottingham she died in 1908 aged 43 yrs, they were married on 25th December at St Marys Church, Nottingham, they went on to have 8 children, sadly 1 died in infancy or early childhood.
In the 1911 census the family lived at 10 Knotted Alley Narrow Marsh Nottingham, Frank 48 yrs is a hosiery hand, he is living with his children, Emily 23 yrs a silk winder, Frank 20 yrs a labourer, John Isaac 18 yrs a labourer, Minnie 16 yrs a winder, Fanny 14 yrs an errand girl and. Nellie 12 yrs of age.
John Isaac married Louisa Elizabeth Lucy Goodwin on 17th April 1915 at St Marks church, Nottingham, they had 2 children William and Evelyn Green they lived at 34 Hunger Hill Road, Nottingham.
Lance Corporal John Isaac Green, enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 1/5th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he was killed in action on 3rd October 1918 and is buried at Bellicourt British Cemetery Grave Reference: VI L 1
