Family history

Harold Edward Hall was born in 1890 at West Bromwich, he was the only son of James Edward a grocer and provisions dealer and Mary Elizabeth Hall née Patrick. of 47 Alfred Street, Nottingham.

His father James Edward was born in 1866 at WestBromwich, his mother Mary Elizabeth Patrick was born in 1864 at Kingswinford, Staffordshire, they were married on 6th August 1888 at St James church, Handsworth.

In the 1911 census the family lived at 184 St Ann's Well Road Nottingham.

Harold Edward married Ethel May Taylor (born 5th March 1893) they were married on 15th July 1915 in St Ann,s Nottingham, they lived at 208 Alfred Street Central, Nottigham.

Commencing 18th November 1918 his widow was awarded a pension of 26 shillings and 8 pence a week.

his widow married George Gunn in 1921 and they lived at 47 Alfred Street Nottingham.

Military history

Lance Corporal Harold Edward Hall enlisted at Nottingham, he initially served with the service number 206527 in the Army Service Corps, later transferring to the 9th battalion Royal Welch Fusiliers. He was killed in action on 29th April 1918, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial
