Family history

John Enoch Gunn was born in 1892 at Nottingham, he was baptised on 15th December 1893 at St Ann's, Nottingham, he was the son of Herbert a cattle drover and Elizabeth Gunn née Kirk of St Ann's, Nottingham.

His father Herbert was born in 1863 at Ruddington, his mother ElizabethKirk was born in 1866 at Nottingham, they were married in 1883 at Nottingham, they went on to have 14 children, sadly 7 were to die in infancy or early childhood.

In the 1911 census the family are living at 3 Jackson Terrace, Simkins Street, St Ann's Nottingham Herbert 48 yrs is a cattle drover he is living with hs wife Elizabeth 45 yrs and their children, Arthur 25 yrs a butchers assistant,John 18 yrs a butchers assistant, William 17 yrs a butchers assaistant, Ernest 15 yrs an errand boy, Edith 11 yrs, Ethel 8 yrs and Lily 7years of age.

Military history

Private John Gunn enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the Durham Light Infanntry before transferring to (22389) 38th Coy Labour Corps he died on 17th June 1917 and is buried at Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery
