Military history

Private Francis Griffin enlisted in Nottingham, he served with the 1/7th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he was killed in action, 24th April 1917, aged 20, when a German 8-inch shell burst in the courtyard of battalion headquarters at Lievin, France.

Buried: Canadian Cemetery No.2, Neuville-St. Vaast, France. Plot 3. Row B. Grave 21.
