Family history

John Joseph Gibney was born on 22nd October 1879 at Brewood Staffordshire, he was the husband of Annie Gibney née Ther (born 7th April 1877 at Nottingham) they were married on 11th December 1897 at Nottingham, they had the following children, John Bernard born 1900, George born 16th June 1903 and Annie Clara born 19th February 1907 they lived at 54 Radnor Street, Nottingham.

In the 1911 census the family lived at 54 Radnor Street St Ann's Nottingham, John 31 yrs is an ectro plate polisher he is living with hos wife Anni 33 yrs and their children, John Bernard 10 yrs, George 7 yrs and Annie 4 yrs of age.

Commencing 27th August 1917 his widowwas awarded a pension of 22 shillings and 11 pence a week.

Military history

Private John Gibney enlisted in Nottingham, he served with the 6th battalion Royal Lancaster Regiment, he was killed in action Mesopotamia (now Iraq) on 12th February 1917, his name is commemorated on the Basra Memorial, Iraq.
