Family history

William Dunn was born in 1892 at Manchester he was the son of William a carrier and Elizabeth Dunn née Lumb of 64 Hannah Strett, Manchester.

His father William was born in 1847In Derbyshire, his mother Elizabeth Lumb was born in 1852 at Northarick, Cheshire they were married on 12th March 1876 at St Oswalds Church, Collyhurst, Lancashire, they had 10 children, sadly 5 were to die in infancy or early childhood.

William married Catherine Crossland (born 23rd January 1892 ) they were married on 14th May 1911 at Holy Trinity Church, Nottingham, they lived at 84 Sycamore Road Woodborough Road Nottingham they had 3 children, Dorothy Kathleen born 11th March 1912, Lillian Edna born 26thApril 1914 and William Arthur born 22nd September 1916.

Commencing 16th August 1919 his widow was awarded a pension of 29 shillings and 7 pence a week.

Military history

Private William Dunn served with the 10th battalion King's Shropshire Light Infantry, he died on 31st January 1919 of pneumonia and is buried at Etaples Military Cemetery, France
