Family history

John Patrick Drury was born in 1891 at Nottingham, he was the son of the late Thomas a coal miner hewer and Catherine Drury née Hayes and the brother of Mary Ellen Drury.

His father Thomas was born in 1861 at Hucknall he died in 1900 he was 39 yrs, his mother Catherine was born in 1855 at Papplewick, they were married in 1886 their marriage was recorded in the Basford registration district,

In the 1911 census the family lived at 43 Norland Road St Ann's Nottingham. Catherine 52 yrs a widow is living with her children, John Patrick 20 yrs an under presser in tailoring and Mary Ellen 29 yrs a lace hand.

Catherine later lived at 2 Cope Street Caulton Street Hyson Green Nottingham.

Military history

Driver John Patrick Drury enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 36th Divisional Ammunition Column, Royal Field Artillery, he died of wounds on 14th September 1918 and is buried at Arneke British Cemetery, France
