Family history

George Henry Brooks was born in 1883 at Nottingham, he was the son of John Brooks a harness maker born 1846 Nottingham and Sarah Brooks

In the 1911 census he lived with relatives ( a cousin) at 41 Hunger Hill Road Nottingham. George Henry is shown as being 28 yrs a lace dresser he is single, he is living with Arthur Turner 39 yrs a tailor and his family.

George Henry marrried Annie Elizabeth Orrell (born 28th March 1886) in 1915 at Nottingham, they lived at 103 Alfred Street South Nottingham.

Commencing 13th May 1918 his widow was awarded a pension of 13 shillings and 9 pence a week.

Military history

Private George Henry Brooks enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 12th Bn Royal Scots Fusilier, he died of wounds in Egypt on 4th November 1917 and is buried at Beersheba War Cemetery, Israel.
