George Blockley was born in 1883 he was the son of Joseph and Mary Blockley and the brother of Harold and Doris Blockley. In 1911 they lived at 28 Flewitt Street Nottingham.
George was the husband of Lavinia Presbury whom he married on 13th April 1903 at St Maryy's Church, Nottingham they lived at 1 Paxton Street Gordon Road Nottingham they had 3 children, George born 1906, Harold born 1907 and Doris born 1909.
In the 1911 census the family are living at 28 Flewitt Street, Nottingham, George 28 yrs is a frame work knitter, he is living with his wife Lavinia 29 yrs and their children, George 5 yrs, Harold 4 yrs and Doris 2 years of age.
Private George Blockley enlisted at Leicester on 25th August 1903 he initially served with the Leicestershire Regiment. He served with the Royal Fusiliers, he died on 16th March 1919 of pulmonary Tuberculosis he is buried at Nottingham General Cemetery
