Marcus Beales was born in 1889 at Nottingham, he was the son of Annie Beales of 106 Union Road Nottingham previously 76 Seymour Street, Carlton.
In the 1911 census he is in the Army, serving as a cook with 138th Field Bty RFA.
His pension record card gives details of a dependent Martha Newton 84 Norton Street, Radford, the mother of his illegitimat child.

Gunner Marcus Beales enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the Royal Field Artillery, he was killed in action on 27th August 1916 and is buried at Gordon Dump Cemetery, Ovillers-La Boisselle
