Henry Woodcock was born in 1893 at Nottingham, he was the son of the late Edward a shoemaker and Rhoda Woodcock née Bowler of 21 Front Row Carlton Road Nottingham.

His father Edward was born in 1837 at Nottingham, he died in 1904 aged 67yrs, his mother Rhoda Bowler was born in 1851 at Brancote, Stafford they were married in 1881 at Nottingham, they went on to have 8 children, Charles b1876, Alfred 1879, Ernest b1880, Alfred b1884, Edward 1884, Ethel b1886, Harry b1892 and Albert b1894

In the 1911 census his widowed mother was living at 21 Front Row, Carlton Road, Nottingham, she is shown as being Rhoda Woodcock 66 yrs a widow and a washer woman, she is living with her son Edward 27 yrs is an out of work labourer.

Military history

Private Harry Woodcock enlisted at Nottingham, he served witht the 2nd battalion Northumberland Fusiliers, he died of wounds on 30th August 1915 at the 17th casualty clearing station at Abeele he is buried at Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery
