Family history

Albert Wells was born in 1893 at Nottingham, he was the son of Thomas Clarke a wood sawyer and Sarah Wells née Hodgkinson and the brother of Harold, William and Hilda Wells of 30Alfreton Road, Nottingham.

His father Thomas was born in 1861 at Leicester, his mother Sarah Hodgkinson was born in 1861 at Nottingham, they were married on 7th October 1879 at St Mary.s Church, Notingham, they had 11 children, sadly 3 were to die in infancy or early childhood.

In the 1911 census the family lived at 4 Roberts Street Windmill Lane Sneinton Nottingham, Thomas 50 yrs is a wood sawyer, hei is living with his wife 50 yrs and their children, Albert 18 yrs a brick layer, Harold 15 yrs a hair dresser, William 13 yrs an errand lad and Hilda 12 yrs a scholar.

He lived at 19 Blue Bell Hill Nottingham, at the time of his death.

Military history

Acting Sergeant Albert Wells enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 2/7th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regment, he was killed in action on 5th June 1917 he is buried at Metz-En-Couture communal cemetery British extension, France
