Family history

Henry Sneath was born in 1898 at Sneinton, he was the son of Walter a clerk at a lace warehouse and Mary Ellen Sneath née Hunt and the brother of Ethel, Annie, Kate, Sydney Joseph, Robert Leslie and George Sneath.

His father Walter was born in 1862 at Nottingham, his mother Mary Ellen Hunt was born in 1862 at Nottingham, they were married on 4th October 1882 at St Stephens Church, Sneinton they went on to have 10 children sadly 1 died in infancy or early childhood.

In the 1911 census the family lived at 3 Lyndhurst Road Alfred Street Sneinton, Walter 49 yrs is a clerk at a lace warehouse, he is living with his wife Mary Ellen 49 yrs and their 7 children including Harry 13 yrs of age ascholar.

Military history

Private Henry Sneath enlisted at Nottingham whilst residing at Sneinton, he served with 'C' Coy 2nd battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment. he was killed in action on 1st July 1917, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Loos Memorial
