Family history

Frank Shaw as born on 15th January 1888 at The Meadows, Nottingham, he was baptised on 21st December 1898 at St Marys Church, Nottingham, he was the son of William provisions porter and Sarah Ann Shaw née Gaunt and the brother of Charles Bernard, Catherine Nellie and Olive Shaw. of 10, Lawrence Terrace, Storer St., Carlton Rd., Nottingham.

His father William Allison Shaw was born in 1861 at Lenton, his mother Sarah Ann Gaunt was born in 1860 at Nottingham, they were married in 1882 at Nottingham, they went on to have 4 children.

In the 1911 census the family lived at 40 Henry Street Sneinton Nottingham William 50 yrs is provisions porter, he is living with his wife Sarah Ann 51 yrs and their children, Frank 23 yrs a threader, Catherine neeli1 19 yrs a jennier and Olive 12 yrs of age.

Military history

Private Frank Shaw enlisted at Norwich whilst residing at Sneinton, Nottingham, he served with the 11th battalion Royal Fusilers, he was killed in action on 25th October 1917, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial
