George Sharp was born in 1895 at Nottingham, he was the son of the late William a grocer and general dealer, and Clara Sharp of 11 St Ledger Terrace, Westminster Street, Nottingham.
His father William was born in 1868 at Ruddington, he died before the 1911 census, his mother Clara was born in 1869 at Notingham, they married and went on to have 4 children.
In the 1911 census his widowed mother is living at 14 Denstone Road, Carlton Road, Nottingham, she is shown as 42 yrs and a lace hand, she is living with her children, Edwin 22 yrs a house man, Mable 21 yrs a fitter, George 15 yrs no occupation listed and Clarice 13 yrs of age.
Private George Sharp, served with the 15th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire) Regiment, he died of wounds on 1st September 1916. He is buried in La Neuville British Cemetery, Corbie.

SHARP. – In loving memory of Private George Sharp, died of wounds September 1st, 1916. – Too dearly loved to be forgotten.”
