Ben Raynor was born in 1898 at Nottingham, he was the son of Thomas a driller and Alice Maude Raynor née Paddock and the brother of Emily, Thomas Moses, Alice Maud and Ivy Raynor of 18 Sheridan Street Sneinton Nottingham.
His father Thomas was born in 1875 at Ledds, his mother Alice Maude Paddock was born in 1879 at Nottingham, they were married on 19th August 1895 at St Ann's Nottingham, they went on to have 6 children, sadly 1 was to die in infancy or early childhood.
In the 1911 census the family lived at 19 Pomfret Street , Sneinton, Nottingham, Thomas 36 yrs is a driller he is living with his wife Alice Maude 32 yrs and their children Emily 15 yrs a lace dresser, Thomas Moses 14 yrs a straw board coverer in the printing trade, Ben 13 yrs a scholar, Alice Maud 5 yrs and ivy 3 years of age.
Private Ben Raynor enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 'E'Company 2/4th battalion Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry, he was killed in action on 20th July 1918 having no knowm gravel his name is commemorated on The Soissons Memorial,
