William Francis Pratt was born in 1888 at Nottingham, he was the son of Charles Pratt a bobbin and carriage hand and Elizabeth Ann Pratt née Clarke of 47 Beauchamp Street, Carlton Road, Nottingham.
His father Charles was born in 1860 at Loughborough, his mother Elizabeth Ann Cllarke was born in 1856 at Loughborough, they were married in 1879 at Loughborough, they went on to have 7 children, sadly 4 were to die in infancy or early childhood.
In the 1911 census his parents were living at 47 Beauchamp Street, Carlton Road, Nottingham, Charles 51 yrs is a bobbin and carriage hand he is living with his wife Elizabeth Ann 54 yrs a grocery shop keeper, they are living with their daughter Mary Winifred 25 yrs a lace jennier.
He was the husband of Annie Catherine Frayner (born 14th February 1887) whom he married in 1908 their marriage was recorded in the Shardlow Registratio district, they had 2 children, Mary Winifred born 10th May 1908 and John Charles Pratt born 19th January 1911 they lived at 25 Beauchamp Street Carlton Road Nottingham.
In the 1911 census the family are living at 25 Beauchamp Street, Carlton Road, Nottingham, William Francis 23 yrs a house painter, he is living with his wife Annie Catherine 24 yrs and their children, Mary Winifred 2 years and John Charles 2 months old.
Commencing 23rd September 1918 his widow was awarded a pension of 25 shillings and 5 pence a week.
Private William Francis Pratt enlisted at Nottingham he served with the 2/5th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he died on 4th March 1918 aged 30 yrs he is buried at Mory Abbey Military Cemetery, Mory, France. Plot 3. Row C. Grave 8.
