Family history

John William Miller was born in 1878 at Sneinton, he married Ellen Shaw (a widow) at Nottingham on 25th January 1908 at St Matthias Church, Sneinton Ellen already had a daughter Mary Ethel Eton who was born in 1891.

In 1911 the family lived at 60 Woodhouse Street Nottingham. John's twenty four year old brother Arthur lodged with them.

At the time of John's death his address was 5 Hooten Terrace Castle Gate Nottingham.

Ellen later lived at 28a Beauchamp Street Carlton Road Nottingham.

Commencing 11th June 1915 his widow was awarded a pension of 15 shillings a week.

Military history

Private John William Miller enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 1st battalion Grenadier Guards he was killed in action on 11th December 1914 having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Ploegsteert memorial Panel 34
