Thomas Francis King was born in 1881 at Nottingham, he was the son of the late Thomas Francis King a lace maker and the late Ann Elizabeth King née Gabbitas 13 St Christopher Street, Sneinton, Nottingham.
His father Thomas Francis was born in 1848 at Nottingham he died in 1913 aged 65 yrs his mother Ann Elizabeth Gabbitas was born in 1854 at Nottingham she died in 1908 aged 54 yrs, they were married and had 8 children, sadly 2 were to die in infancy or early childhood.
In the 1911 census his widowed father Thomas Francis 63 yrs ia a lace maker, living at 13 St Christopher Street, Nottingham he is living with his married daughter Marion Moore 33 yrs and her husband Robert Shardlow Moore 35 yrs, May King 22 yrs a blouse examiner, Ann Elizabeth King 19 yrs a lace finisher, and Lucy Ada 13 yrs an errand girl.
Thomas Francis King was the husband of Marion Merchant born 1880 they were married in 1906 at Nottingham theylived at 2 Harold Terrace Pole Street St Ann's Nottingham they had a son Thomas Francis King born 1908, he died in 1908.
His pension record card shows that his widow stated that her husband had desrted her, she was as a result awarded a a maintenance order of 9 shillings and 6 pence a week which commenced on 4th April 1917.
Thomas Francis King enlisted at Nottingham, using an alias Albert Moore, he served with 'A' Coy 1st battalion Sherwood Forester Regiment, he was killedin action on 12th March 1915 aged 34 yrs during the counter-attack by the Germans at Neuve Chapelle, France, having no known grave his name is cmmemorated: Le Touret Memorial, France. Panel 26 and 27.
