William Harrison was born in 1883 at Nottingham he was the son of William a bricklayer and Emma Harrison née Hancock of 61 Shrewsbury Avenue Sneinton Dale, Nottingham,

His father William was born in 1860 at Nottingham, his mother Emma Hancock was born in 1860 at Nottingham, they were married on 10th December 1882 at St Mary's Church, Nottingham, they went on to have 5 children.

In the 1911 census his parents and siblings are living at 61 Shrewsbury Road, Sneinton, William 51 yrs is a brick layer he is living with his wife Emma 51 yrs and their children, Albert 21 yrs a brick layer and Cyril 9 yrs a school boy.

William was the husband of Eliza Grice (born 21st August 1883) they were married on 19th April 1908 at St Stephens Church, Nottingham, they lived at 447 Meadow Lane Nottingham.

In the 1911 census they were living at 64 Whittier Road, Sneinton, William 28 yrs is a bricklayer, he is living with his wfe Eliza 27 yrs and his mother in law Harriett Grice 53 yrs and sister in law Harriett Grice 15 yrs a lace maker.

Military history

Private William Harrison enlisted at Nottinghamm and served with the 2/6th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he was killed in action, 21st March 1918, aged 35, whilst holding the line near Noreuil, France on the opening day of the German Spring Offensive or (Kaiserschlact) Having no known grave his name is commemorated: Arras Memorial, France. Bay 7.
