Family history

Walter Greasley Hall was born in 1893 at Nottingham, he was the son of Arthur Robert a stone mason and Elizabth Hall née Shelton and the brother of Ernest Henry, Alice, Edwin John and Nellie Elizabeth Hall of 5 Beauchamp Street Carlton Road Nottingham.

His father Arthur Robert Hall was born in 1860 at Nottingham his mother Elizabeth Shelton was born in 1861 at Nottingham, they were married in 1883 at Nottingham, they went on to have 9 children, sadly 3 were to die in infancy or early childhood.

In the 1911 census the family lived at 5 Kemps Cottages Lowdham Street St Ann's, Nottingham Arthur Robert 51 yrs is a stone mason he is living with his wife Elizabeth 50 yrs and their children, Ernest Henry 22 yrs a flour miller, Walter Greasley 17 yrs a hairdressers assistant, Alice a hosiery overlooker, Edwin John 13 yrs a tobacco packer and Nellie Elizabeth 10 yrs of age.

Military history

Gunner Walter Greasley Hall enlisted at Nottingham he served with 'A' Bty 188th Brigade Royal Field Artillery, he died of wounds on 18th November 1916 he is buried at La Neuville Communal Cemetery, Corbie,France
