Family history

William Bradbury was born in 1879 at Nottingham he was the son of William a frame work knitter and Emma Bradbury née Hickling of Nottingham.

His father William was born in 1856 and his mother Emma Hickling was born in 1857 both were born in Shepshed, Leicestershire, they were married on 5th October 1874 at Shepshed, they had 3 children, Mark b1875 and William born 1879 a further child died in infancy.

He was the husband of Mary Ann Jack born 14th June 1882 Nottingham) they were married on 2nd November 1902 at St Lukes Church, Nottingham. they had children, Emma, William, Edith, Winifred May, Elsie and Doris . they lived at 5 Sun Hill Colwick Street Sneinton Nottingham.

Commencing 24th June 1918 his widow was awarded a pension of 37 shillings and 11 pence a week.

Military history

Driver William Bradbury enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 188th brigade Royal Field Artillery, he was killed in action on 5th December 1917 he is buried at Hermies Hill British Cemetery, France.

Extra information

His brother Private Mark Bradbury enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 406th Mechanical Transport Coy Army Service Corps attd. II. Corps Heavy Artillery. He was killed in action on 19th August 1917 and is buried at Reninghelst New Military Cemetery, Belgium.
