Family history

Lawrence Barsby was born in 1869 at Nottingham he was the son of the late Thomas Barsby a lace maker and the late Sarah Jane Barsby née Parks of Nottingham.

His father Thomas was born in 1842 at Nottingham he died in 1899 at Nottingham, he was 57 yrs old, his mother Sarah Jane Parks was born in 1843 at Carlton, she died in 1915 she was aged 72 yrs, they were married on 7th April 1863 at Nottingham they had 6 children.

He was the husband of Florence Cordon (born 1871 at Caunton,) they were married in 1915 at Nottingham, they lived at 8 Walker Street, Sneinton, Nottingham,

Military history

Private 4157 Lawrence Barsby enlisted at Nottingham on 17th December 1914, he had previously served in the Sherwood Foresters Regiment but was time expied when he left the Regiment.

He was posted to the 18th protection company, Royal Defence Corps, he saw no overseas service and was discharged from the Army on 8th November 1916 with chronic bronchitis. His discharged address was 8 Walker Street, Sneinton, Nottingham. He died on 22nd June 1921 and is buried at the Nottingham General Cemetery
