Family history

Reuben George Pheasey was born in 1885 at Nottingham, he was the son of the late Robert a stone mason and the late and Maria Jane Pheasey née Reddish and the brother of Ernest, Robert (died Nottingham 1911), Frederick (killed in action 15/10/1917) and Gertrude Pheasey.

His father Robert was born in 1849 at Nottingham, he died in 1911 at Sheffield he was 62 yrs of age, his mother Maria Jane Reddish was born in 1854 at Lenton, she died in 1901 at Sheffield she was 46 yrs of age, they were married in 1878 at Radford, Nottingham, they had 6 children.

In 1891 they lived at 31 Storer Street Sneinton Nottingham.

In 1901 he was living in barracks at Dover.

In 1911 Reuben married Mary Finis Peel at Sheffield they had a son George was born in 1912 they lived at 29 Fountain Square, Sheffild.

Military history

Corporal Reuben George Pheasey enlisted at Sheffield, he served with the 12th Siege Bty, Royal Garrison Artillery, he was killed in action on 31st July 1915, he is buried at Vlamertinghe Military Cemetery, Belgium.

Extra information

His brother Private Frederick Charles Pheasey enlisted at Sheffield, he initially served with the service number 5782 in the Yorks and Lancaster Regiment, he later transferred to the 21st battalion Northumberland Fusiliers, he was killed in action on 15th October 1917 and is buried at Dozingham Military Cemetery, Belgium.
