Amos Wagg was born in 1898 the son of Samuel a coal miner and Priscilla Wagg née Buck of 52 York Street, Hucknall Torkard, Nottinghamshire.

Both his parents were born in 1864 at Hucknall Torkard. Married in 1886, they had six children, five surviving infancy - Samuel b1891, Florence b1889, Mabel b1893, Amos b1898 and Dorothy Wagg b1901.

In 1911 they lived at 52 York Street, Hucknall Torkard. Samuel 47 years worked as a coal miner, he is living with his wife Prcilla 47 yrs and his children, Samuel 20 yrs a pits banksman, Amos 13 yrs a school boy, Florence 22 yrs and Mabel 18 yrs were shawl dressers, Dorothy 10 yrs a schoolgirl.

Military history

Private Amos Wagg, enlisted at Hucknall aged 16, he served with the 9th battalion Royal Fusiliers, landing in France on 14th July 1915 he died of wounds on 3rd March 1916 he is buried at Vermelles British Cemetery, Pas de Calais.
