Laurence William Tuttiett was born in 3rd June 1891 at Weobley, Cambridgshire, he was the son of the Reverend Laurence Raynor Tuttiett a clergyman (C Of E) and Jessie Tuttiett née Champion, of 89 The Avenue, West Ealing London. His father Laurence Raynor Tuttiett was born in 1855 at Norton, his mother Jessie Champion was born in 1859 at Edale, Derbyshire, they were married in 1884, their marriage was registered in the Chapel Le Frith registration district, Derbyshire, they had a further child, Margaret Elizabeth born 1890 also at Edale. His family in the 1911 census are at The Hotel Riposo, Dorset Laurence Raynor Tuttiett 56 yrs is a clergyman, he is living with his wife Jessie 51 yrs and their daughter Margaret Elizabeth 21 yrs. Laurence married Frances Alice Clarkson on 10th April 1915 at All Saints Church, Ealing, they had a son Laurence Anthony born 3rd March 1916.

Military History

Captain Laurence William Tuttiett saw service for 3 yrs in the South African Police in Rhodesia, he was commission Lieutenant in December 1914 into the Royal Sussex Regiment and was promoted to Captain in April 1915, he was killed in action on 3rd September 1916 at Hammel, Somme, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial.
