Family history

Stanley Kirkbride was born in 1895 at Weston Super Mare he was the son of the late James a carpenter and Sarah Ann Kirkbride née Palmer and brother of George, Arthur and Emily of Weston Super Mare.

His father James was born in 1848 at Weston super Mare, he died in 1919 aged 71 yrs, his mother Sarah Ann Palmer was born in 1855 at Weston Super Mare, they were married in 1873 at Axbridge,Somerset, they went on to have 4 children.

In the 1911 census the family are living at 15 Palmer Street, Weston super Mare,James 63 yrs is a house carpenter he is living with his wife Sarah Ann 56 yrs and their children, George 21 yrs a house painter, Arthur 20 yrs a plumber, Emily 18 yrs a shop assistant and Stanley 16 yrs a drapers porter.

Military history

Private Stanley Kirkbride enlisted at Bristol whilst residing at Weston Supr Mare, he served with the 8th Battalion Somerset Light Infantry, he was killed in action on 28th April 1917, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Arras Memorial.
