Frank William Val Pilmore was born in 1897 at Beeston, he was the son of Val a gardener and nurseryman and Alice Pilmore née Ellis and the brother of Eleanor, Sydney, Benjamin N, Constance M, Marjorie A and John A Pilmore.

His father Val was born in 1869 at Teigh, Rutland, his mother Alice Ellis was born in 1870 at Burton upon Trent, they were married in 1896 at Burton Upon Trent, they had 5 children,

In the 1911 census the family lived at 15, Montague Street, Beeston, Nottingham Val 41 yrs is living with his wife Alice 40 yrs and his sister Eleanor 46 yrs a lace curtain folder, and his children, Frank W 14 yrs, Benjamin 12 yrs Constance, 10 yrs, Marjorie 7 yrs and John A 2 yrs of age.

Military history

Private Frank William Val Pilmore enlisted at Nottingham whilst residing at Beeston, he served with the 15th battalion Sherwood Forester Regiment, he died of wounds at No 12 General Hospital, Rouen . He is buried in St. Sever Cemetery, Rouen, Grave Reference B.32.13

In memoriam published 5th August 1916 in the Nottingham Evening Post :-

“PILMORE. – Died of wounds, July 30th, Private Frank Pilmore, son of Mr. and Mrs. Pilmore, Beeston. Loving remembrance.”

In memoriam published 30th July August 1918 in the Nottingham Evening Post :-

“PILLMORE. [sic] – In affectionate memory of Pte. Frank Pillmore, died of wounds July 30th, 1916. Ever in our thoughts. – Sorrowing father, mother, brothers, and sisters.”
