Percy Henry Meads was born in 1893 at Kimberley he was the son of Sydney a colliery banksman and Kate Meads née Morley and the brother of Maud Evylin Meads of 10 Hardy Street, Kimbrley.
His father Sydney was born in 1871 at Calverton, his mother Kate Morley was born in 1873 also at Calverton, they were married on 3rd April 1893 at St Wilfreds Church, Calverton, they went on to have 4 children, sadly 1 died in infancy or early childhood.
In 1911 they lived on the Alley (later Hardy Street) Kimberley Nottinghamshire Sydney 40 yrs is a colliery banksman he is living with his wife Kate 38 yrs and their children, Percy Harry 17 yrs no occupation given and Maud Evylin 14 yrs of age.
Rifleman Percy Harry Meads enlisted at Nottingham on 8th September 1914 giving his age as 21 yrs and 27 days, he was a collier and attended the barracks of the Rifle Brigade on 10th September 1914 at Winchester where he was posted to the 12th battalion Rifle Brigade. Landing in France on 21st July 1915 he was killed in action on 23rd September 1915 and is buried at Rue-Petillon Military Cemetery 2.D.44
