                        He was known as 'Ernest'. He was the eldest son of Isaac and Charlotte Hannah Keeling and the brother of Henry, Edith and John Thomas keeling. In 1911 they lived at 133 Burford Road and later at 21 Ayr Street Forest Road (both Nottingham).
