William Cree

In 1901 Robert and Mary E Cree were living at Clarkâs Lane, Great North Road, Tuxford. At this time they had three children, the first two, Ethel and Ada, were twins, born January 1893 and they then had William who was born in Tuxford in 1897.
By 1911 all three had left home, the twins were both working as domestic servants on separate farms while William was on a farm at Laxton.
William was living in Darlton when he enlisted.
Formerly Sherwood Foresters No. 47947
He initially joined the Sherwood Foresters before he was transferred to the Border Regiment.
He served on the Western Front and was killed in action on 23 August 1917 and is buried in Cement House Cemetery, Belgium (Grave Reference: II D 24).
