Charles William Vincent was born in 1882 at Feltwell, Norfolk he was baptised on 23rd February 1883 at Feltwell, he was the son of Eliza Jane Vincent.

His mother Eliza Jane was born in 1863 at Folkstone, she had further children, Bernard John Vincent born 1886, George Vincent born 1892, Louise Vincent 1893 and Frederick Vincent born 1895, all were born at Feltham.

His mother later married George Henry Newman born 1866 they were married on 12th August 1914 at Hendon.

Military history

Private Charles William Vincent enlisted at Retford, he initially served with the service number 7629 in the Durham Light Infnatry, he he was killed in action on 16th October 1917 whilst serving with the 9th battalion Yorkshire Regiment, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial.
