He was the son of Robert Wood and Ellen Elizabeth Swann and the brother of Jane and David Swann of 38 Beauvale Road Nottingham.
Military History
Sapper Robert Wood Swann, enlisted in Nottingham and served with the 61st Field Company Royal Engineers, he was killed in action on 6th September 1918. He is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial.

In memoriam published 6th September 1919 in the Nottingham Evening Post :-
“SWANN. – In loving memory of our dear son, Sapper R. W. Swann, killed September 6th, 1918. Ever in our thoughts. – Father, mother, brother, sister, and brother-in-law.”
