John Calvert

John Calvert (junior) was born in 1889 at Beeston, he was baptised on 31st July 189 at St John's Church, Beeston, he was the son of the late John Calvert (senior) a brewer and Elizabeth Calvert née Harper and the brother of Thomas, Sophia and Sarah Ann.

His father John was born in 1852 at Loughborough he died in 1906 aged 55 yrs, his mother Elizabeth was born in 1854 at Beeston, they were married on 4th February 1877 st St John's Church, Beeston, they went on to have 8 children.

In the 1911 census the family lived at Roberts Yard, High Road, Beeston, Nottingham. Elizabeth 57 yrs is a widow she is living with her children, Thomas 27 yrs a lace hand, Sophia 24 yrs a lace mender, Sarah Ann 19 yrs a lace mender and her married son John 21 yrs a labourer turner in iron works and his wife Ena 24 yrs a polisher in a rope manufacturers.

John was the husband of Ena Toner born 29th December 1886) they were married in 1911 their marriage was recorded in the Basford registration district, they lived at 17 Commercial Street, Lenton, they had 2 children, Elizabeth born 10th July 1911 and Gertrude Ena born 6th August 1916.

Commencing 13th August 1917 his widow was awarded a pension of 22 shillings and 11 pence a week.
