John Coxall (junior) was born in 1878 the only son of the late John Coxall (senior) and Sarah Ann Coxall néé Atherton .

John Coxall (senior) was born in 1838 at Swadlincote , Sarah Ann Atherton was born in 1847 at Middlesex, married in 1877 at Burton Upon Trent

In 1911 he lived at 11 Mayfield Road, Kirkby-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire he was a boarder living with Emma Buckberry 68 yrs a widow, he is shown as being 33 years and a coal miner hewer.

Military history

Private John Coxall enlisted on 12th June 1915 at Hucknall, Nottinghamshire. he went to France with the 17th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, on 14th April 1916. He was posted to the 16th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 10th July 1916 and was reported wounded and missing 30th July 1916, during actions near Bethune, France.

Commemorated: Loos Memorial, France. Panel 87 to 89.In 1911 he was lodging at 11 Mayfield Street Kirkby in Ashfield.
