Family history

John was born in 1891 in Woodborough,Nottinghamshire he was the son of Charles Wright born 1849 in Chesterfield a frame worker knitter and Rebecca born 1858 in Woodborough.

He is shown on the 1901 census as having an elder brother Charles born 1879 in Woodborough.

On the 1911 census he is shown as 20 yrs living with his mother who by this time is head of the family so presumably his father had died and they are living at 10 Shelt Hill, Woodborough.

He married Lucy Taylor (born 19th January 1891) they were married in 1913 their marriage was recorded in the Mansfield registration district, they had a child Alice Evelyn Tayor born 3rd November 1912, they lived at 1 Cauldwell Yard, Sherwood Street, Warsop, Mansfiled

His widow was awarded a pension of 10 shillings and 9 pence a week commencing 26th February 1918.

His widow after his death remarried and became Lucy Barks and went on to live at 1, Cauldwells Yard, Sherwood St, Warsop, Mansfield

Military history

John enlisted at Mansfield, Nottinghamshire and served with the Sherwood Forester Regiment, he was killed in action France & Flanders on 10th August 1917 having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres, Belgium
