Family history

Albert William Dunn was born in 1884 at Hucknall, he was the son of William a retired wagon carriage builder, and Harriett Dunn née Walker 22 Foster Street, Nottingham.

His father William was born in 1845 at Swymbridge, Devon, his mother was born in 1850 in Birmingham, they were married on 31st July 1870 at St Mary's Church, Birmingham, they went on to have 7 children.

In the 1901 census Albert is living with his parents and four siblings at 82, St. Peter's Street, Radford.

By 1911, he is living with his retired parents and one sister at 22, Forster Street, Radford William 66 yrs is a retired carriage builder, he is living with wife Harriett 61 yrs and their children, Annie 37 yrs a domestic cut and Albert 27 yrs a bobbin and carriage hand.

By the time the War Graves registers were published the address given for his parents was Hey Farm, Upperthong, Holmfirth, Yorks.

Military history

Private Albert William Dunn enlisted at Sheffield he served with the 1/5th battalion Northumberland Fusiliers, he is listed as 'died' on 26th October 1917, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial.
