Family history

Frank Green was born in 1893 at Nottingham, he was the son of the late Charles Green a colliery deputy and Thirza Ann Green née Roberts of 46 Beaconfield Street, Hyson Green, Nottingham.

His father Charles was born in 1855 at Ripley, he died in 1917 aged 62 yrs, his mother Thirza Ann Roberts was born in 1857 at Manchester, they were married in 1878 their marriage was recorded in the Belper registration district, they went on to have 9 children, sadly 1 was to die in infancy or early childhood.

In the 1911 census the family are living at 46 Beaconsfield Street, Hyson Green, Charles 56 yrs is a colliery deputy, he is living with his wife Thirza Ann 54 yrs and their children, Thirza 26 yrs a lace curtain pattern maker, Fred 20 yrs a lace curtain machinist, Frank 17 yrs a marbel mason and Edgar Maurice 13 yrs a scholar.

Military history

Sapper Frank Green enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the Royal Engineers, he died of wounds on 4th October 1916 at Salonica, he is buried in Struma Military Cemetery (grave ref IV.G.I) Greece
